Seven Best Practices for Securing Your PI Server:

  1. Upgrade to the latest version of Windows and the PI Server
  2. Use Windows authentication instead of PI User authentication, also known as explicit login
  3. Use Windows authentication instead of PI Trust authentication
  4. Do not use piadmin
  5. Configure minimum permissions for interfaces
  6. Upgrade to the latest version of PI Buffer Subsystem and use Windows authentication
  7. Use Windows groups for PI Identity Mappings
