Umetrics SIMCA-online: Complex Analytics Applied to PI System™ Data
July 17th, 2013 from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. PDT

Umetrics' SIMCA product family incorporates PI System data and events to provide both off-line and on-line multivariable analysis for continuous and batch processes. DualDiode® Technology: How Owl’s Next Generation of Cyber Defense Solved RasGas’ Urgent Need for Improved Network Securtiy.

August 7th, 2013 from 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. PDT

In August 2012, the RasGas office computer systems were struck by an unknown virus attack that caused the company to disconnect its plant automation systems from the corporate network to insure operations were not disrupted by the virus. The result of disconnecting the plant and business networks was an interruption of information flow from the production networks to the business networks.

The RasGas objective was to restore the information from the plant automation system to the corporate network to obtain the business efficiencies, and at the same time, mitigate the threat to its process control systems of damaging viruses and unauthorized network access. RasGas evaluated a variety of network security solutions and selected the Enterprise Perimeter Defense Solution (EPDS) manufactured by Owl Computing Technologies.

The first two data flows RasGas wanted to restore were information from it OSIsoft PI System and its PAS alarm system. As an established OSIsoft partner, owl was able to quickly implement its OSIsoft PI Transfer Service application. The PAS alarm data was transferred by the inherent capabilities of the Owl EPDS product. RasGas completed a controlled implementation of the Own EPDS and Owl OSIsoft Transfer Service application in less than ninety days achieving restoration of the important information flow.

Participants:

  • Dennis Lanahan, Sales & Customer Service, Owl Computing Technologies
  • Maya Shah, Advisor Applications Engineering, RasGas Company
