Begining Windows authentication in the PI Server

$

0

I am starting to incorporate Windows authentication to the PI server.

I have an AD group for all users that I would like to map to the PI World identity for read only access.

When I use PI System Explorer, Security, Identities Users Groups, PI Identities, PI World, Properties, Mappings and Trusts, the add button is not availible.

The selection for disabling this identity is not checked. I am logged in as piadmin to the server with a trusted connection.

Any suggestions?

PI Batch Customers – Get ready for Event Frames!

Dear PI Batch customers,

During our EMEA UC Lisbon Conference in September, the PI Data Archive 2015 BETA became available which includes a preview of Future Data functionality and [more importantly for you] the ability to migrate PI Batch data to PI Event Frames.  When PI Server 2015 is released next year, this will be the first of several key product updates to the PI System on our way to supporting our batch customer’s migration to PI Event Frames.

In PI Server 2015 BETA, batch data, including PI Campaigns, PI Batches, PI Unit Batches, and Sub-batches, can be migrated to PI Event Frames.  As part of the process, a migration analysis tool will check for errors and confirm that PI Batch data is ready for migration.  PI Event Frames Templates used in the migration process are automatically created in PI AF and used during the migration.  These PI Event Frames Templates enables easy searching, organization, and expansion of the batch hierarchy for your future batch needs.  It is important to note a couple of details about the migration strategy:

1.    The PI System Administrator has control over when the batch migration is started.  Customers can upgrade to PI Data Archive 2015 BETA and their PI Batch data would still be operational.  When customers are ready, they can initiate the migration process using the updated PI SMT tool.

2.    The migration functionality is a 1 time migration, NOT a continuous synchronization between PI Batch and PI Event Frames.  When the migration starts, the PI Batch DB turns to read only.  At this point, batch interfaces will need to start writing to PI Event Frames.

3.    PI Data Archive 2015 will not be for all batch customers, especially those with custom batch applications or 3rd party products utilizing PI Batch.  Following migration, these custom applications will not work since they would need to be updated first to query PI Event Frames instead of PI Batch.

4.    The PI Data Archive 2015 BETA does not currently support migration of PI Batch Subsystem data, but we do plan on supporting this before release next year.

This BETA is an important part of our Batch to EF migration strategy, and WE NEED YOUR HELP in confirming that the migration works for your data and usage.  We encourage you to download the PI Data Archive 2015 BETA, install it on a TEST PI System that contains a copy of your production batch data, and analyze/execute a migration and report your findings to our beta support team mailbox at BetaPIServer@osisoft.com:

https://techsupport.osisoft.com/Troubleshooting/Releases/RL01005

We plan on using this customer feedback to improve the migration functionality and confirm that it works as expected so that when PI Data Archive 2015 is released next year, it will perform effectively for all of our batch customers.

We would also like to let you know that we are currently working on adding Event Overlay Trend support to PI Coresight (i.e. functional replacement to PI BatchView) and adding AF/EF support for RtReports.  We do not yet have estimated release dates for this functionality but when we do, it will be posted to the Product Roadmap.  For more details about the state of Batch in the PI System, please refer to our recent presentation at the EMEA Lisbon UC in September entitled PI Batch Users: Batch Migration to PI Event Frames

If there are any questions, please feel free to contact me at DCasazza@osisoft.com or Todd Brown at tbrown@osisoft.com.

Please send any feedback of the PI Data Archive 2015 BETA testing to BetaPIServer@osisoft.com and to me at DCasazza@osisoft.com.

PI PROCESSBOOK

PIAdvCalcDat("TagName","y + 5h","t + 5h","1d","average","event-weighted","0","1","193","server")

espero puedan apoyarme

PE TO SUBSTRACT TO DATES.

Hi all,

I am sure it could be a very easy question but i don't know how to reach the solution.

I would like subtract one date value stored in a PE named TEST_DATE(Point Type is a string as you can see below) with other timestamp values.

Evaluating currently  this  sentece 't-1s' i get 24/10/2014 1:25:40. It's ok, however if i try to do something like this:

 - 'TEST_DATE'-1s

 -  ParseTime(Concat('TEST_DATE', '-1s')),

 - ParseTime('TEST_DATE') -1s,

 - ParseTime('TEST_DATE'-1s ),

i got call Failed or Performance Equation parsing error

although it's not neccesary you can view TEST_DATE archived  values

Thanks in advanced!

Exist some PE function to retrieve the timestamp of an archive value?

Hi all,

Reviewing all PE Functions in some docs like PEReference.chm, i can not find a function to to retrieve the timestamp of an archive value?.

I have found things like: NextEvent('PI TAG',ParseTime("t-1s")) but not function like XXX('PI TAG') which returns the timestamps of PI_TAG value.

Doesn't exists?

Thanks in advanced.

Processbook: Number of Units at a location from external relational database.

$

The current Processbook display i'm building requires me to display the number of units at a particular location at a given point in time throughout the day.

Basically, we have an SQL Relational Database outside of the PI system which records the time stamp when a unit arrives at a location and again records the time stamp when the unit leaves.

At the moment I dump all the cycles of arrival and departure for the previous day into an excel spreadsheet and at 1 minute intervals, evaluate how for how many cycles, the timestamp falls between the arrival and departure time

(Eg. T arrive <=T x <= T depart - see attached excel), however i would like to be able to do this in process book in near real time.

I was planning on importing the data via an SQL query, then assigning a value of 1 to times after the arrival timestamp and before the departure and 0's at other times, however i haven't been able to figure out to do it as yet or whether it is even possible.

Any help i could get would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

VBA Excel Code for Repeated PI Compressed Data Extraction

$

I have searched the forums and google (I might just be bad at searching), but I can't seem to find anything on this. I am a bit of a newby to macros and VBA in general, and combining it with PI seems impossible for now.

What I am trying to accomplish is writing a VBA code that will run through a list of PI tags and pull "Compressed Data (Start Time/End Time)" for each tag. The code would read the tag name, start time, end time and change the preferences in the pop up menu (such as "hide count"). It would then extract the data to some point in the workbook for each tag. This is so that I don't need to go through the manual process of reselecting everything for each separate tag, which can be time consuming if you have a number of tags.

Ordinarily with a problem like this I would record a macro in Excel, select the options that I require, and then have a look at the resulting macro and figure out the process from there. But doing that in this case just results in 1 line of code "Application.Run "showCompDat"" which is not terribly helpful for me, because that just opens up the list, but I need to know how to manage the settings of the list itself.

An analogy is writing a macro to run several cases of Solver with different settings.

PI Collective problems

I have existing PI Server 3.4.375.38. Then I create new Pi Collective with the same version as primary (existing). After finish the replication works for configuration only but the data was not replicated at all. On the Primary data is updated and works just fine, in opposite of primary the secondary server is not receiving any update value since the collective was created.

I check the communication between the servers on Collective Manager and it says Good and healthy

Any idea how to troublehoot this issue ?

Thanks

How to use PI APS to collect infromation from multiple OPCs

$

My current configuration has several interface servers connecting to one PI server.  Points in PI are seperated/designated by a 2 digit code prior to the OPC tag name due to the same tagname being in each interface.  Althought the tags may have the same name, the information is being collected from different OPCs with different physical locations.  I would like to use PI APS to eport the tag data to a .csv file that can be modified to include additional information but do not want to corrupt existing data in the PI server.

Does anyone have experience importing data from an OPC to the PI server using PI APS from multiple interface servers?

Thanks,

Monty

PI Digital tags show different value than foxboro DCS

Hi Expert,

I have 2 digital tags created in PI that show differ value compared to Foxboro DCS HMI, example PI Tags show "OFF", Foxboro DCS HMI show "ON", When i compared with another digital PI tags configuration, everything were good. those 2 PI tags should show same as foxboro DCS HMI, i'm not sure either foxboro DCS were sending intermittent value, that make PI show "OFF" . Is there any thing that i can check and compare, between PI and DCS on this issue..?

Thanks

PI Notifications are disabled showing this error: PINET: RPC is Non-Existent

Hi,

I've noticed today that I haven't received the periodic notifications I've defined on my pi server. I reviewed the state of all notifications and these are showing this error:

"Could not start the notification: Failed to retrieve events from server.  [-10727] PINET: RPC is Non-Existent."

I've restarted the service "PI Notifications Scheduler" and started all pi notifications to run them. All notifications are working now.

I've reviewed that the configuration of service "PI Notifications Scheduler" and this service startups automatically if the server is rebooted.

Anybody know the cause of this kind of error? Is there any solution to solve this problem automatically?

Thanks in advance

AFSDK: Find PI Digital State Set by name

I would like to get the PI Digital state sets, but I am not sure how to do this in the AFSDK. I attempted to use this but it continues to return 0 items. I was able to get the set using the PISDK but I do not want to add the PISDK to my project if I do not need to

AFEnumerationSet.FindEnumerationSets(mAFDB, stateName, AFSearchField.Name, AFSortField.Name, AFSortOrder.Ascending, 10).FirstOrDefault()

After finding the digital state set I just need to iterate through all of it's states and get a list of the state names.

Record value when transmitter status bad

$

Can I setup a PI tag to record the value coming out of a device even if the status of that device is Bad?

We have several mass flow meters that are used to charge liquids and then they are blown out with gas after the charge.  The meters are setup with a slug flow density limit.  If the density of material is below this limit, the meter outputs 0 flow rate and a status of bad to the DCS system.  The slug flow limit is used to ensure the meter does not integrate the flow of compressed gas while the meter is blown out.

In our PI server the word "Bad" is recorded for both the flow rate and the density when the meter is empty.  Once the meter fills with liquid the actual readings are recorded again.  Recording a value of 0 flow and the actual measured density is important for us.  Is there a tag configuration setting that would record the actual value coming out of the device at all times and ignores the device status?

Thank you

Different time on Server and PI SW

Dear Colleagues,

We have got the issue with the PI time after server time changing.

In fact we have changed OS time of the server from 01.00 to 00.00. Since this the OS time and PI time has 1h difference. We tried to restart server unsuccessfully = nothing changed.

What can we miss? What can be the source of the difference?
