Create totalizer

Hello,

i'm a new user of PI procesbook.

 

i hope that someone can help me with the following issue.

 

I want to create a totalizer in a flow to a certain tank.

 

the totalizer must be initiate when the tag 635GO141.pv (valve)is switched to "on" en must be stopped when switched to "off".

 

i have already filled in in the expression field:

if 'COD:635GO131.PV' = "on" then TagTot('COD:635FY020.PV','t','*') else 0. The totalizer now  runs over 24 hours. Is there a possibilty to make a switch between time 't' and '*' and use "on"and "off" instead?

PI ProcessBook Range Function

Does the Range PE function return the difference between a tag's max and min value during the entire timeframe or only at the two end states of the interval?

 

If I'm looking at a tag in ten minute intervals, I only want to compare the value at time now (*) with the value time ten minutes ago (*-10m). I want to determine the range between only these points. I don't care what the other values are inbetween (or during the interval).

Configure Archives for Rotation

Finally filled up my hard drive (as if that were a goal), so I want to return the archive shifts to rotation.  Found a lot of documentation on how to configure to create a new archive, but nothing on returning to rotation.  Here is what I vaguely recall, with a few questions.

 

Q1: Is it as simple as setting: Archive_AutoArchiveFileRoot = blank

 

Q2: So I have the fuzzy warm feeling of surety, is it correct that no path is required for rotation, because all the archives are registered with their path?

 

Q3: Is Archive_AutoArchiveFileFormat ignored when …FileRoot is off?

Auto collect data in Excel

Hi,

 

If you have a excel doc with PI datalink and would like daily readings of a tag, is there any way of auto updating(colleting) the latest data?

Now I have to select the PI datalink cell and click apply to get todays result.

Renamed tag gives "Point <tagname> No Digital Set to Passivate"

Hello, 

 

I recently renamed a tag using point builder in PI-SMT. 

it worked well, but I got this message in SMT : "Point <old-tag> No Digital Set to Passivate" periodically.

 

can anyone help me to understand what should be done to correct this?

PI continues calculating even after the query in Excel is closed

I'm having some problems with the IP when I do queries.

When Excel crashes and I need to close it, the PI continues performing the calculation. In SMT, the curTime keeps increasing and the PI Server becomes slow.

Is there any way to stop the calculation without me having to stop the PI Archive Subsystem service?

Import Tag Strings Into Excel

I'm looking for a way to automate something which would require doing a full basic tag search of "*' in excel and list all returned tags in a column of a spreadsheet to parse and build from.

 

Example, macro queries and finds 15000 tags from search, and returns the list of results into column A to work with in another macro.

 

 

Is anyone familiar with an excel vb script with the PI add-in which can perform this?

PI Equation for Determining How Long Does a Tag Stay on a Certain Range of Values

I want to count the number of minutes/hours does a specific tag stay on a certain range...

 

For example, if I have 3 Temperature ranges: Less than 20°C, Greater than 20°C but less than 50°C and greater than  50°C

 

I need to have 3 PI Performance Equations using PROCESSBOOK that will determine how long does a tag stay on every particular range.

 

To make it easier to visualize, I need to come up like the one I attached

Storing value in PI tags for future timestamp

Hello,

 

I am using PI-SDK in .Net to save data in the PI tags (using OLEDB PI queries) at "future timestamps". I know PI server wont allow it. Is there any way of doing the same?

 

I know there is a new release for PI server which is coming in Q3 2014 which will support this functionality, however, is there any way to do it somehow now?

Problem PI Webparts-Sharepoint 2010

Hi, i'm new in PI System and i have a problem, when i need to use the webparts for Sharepoint, doesn't appears and i dont know why. PI System is installed but PI System Explorer, doesn't connect to database, could that be the problem?

Reset a tag by using Performance equation

Hi,

Can anyone guide me to reset a "Datapoint" to zero,

For example:- A Performance equation is calculated as A=B+C+D after certain value i want to reset the values "A" to '0', is it possible to do in a Performance equation

Is it possible to schedule on a specific time, to create a new archive file automatically in the Operation -->Archives, no need to worry whether it is full with data or not.

 

For example:- Daily Midnight 00:00:00 an archive file "piarch.xxx" to be created automatically.

How to PI datalink to trend data by clicking on tag in excel?

Hello,

 

I am working with PI datalink in excel, and I wanted to find a way to create a macro (unless there is another way) to click on a tag and get the pi trendm comapred to going on the pi tab, clicking on trend, finding the tag and changing the server each time.

 

Is there a code for trending that I can use in excel to create this function.

Verify PIML Mobile Tags

I have recently installed the PI Manual Logger and PI Manual Logger Mobile onto my Mobile PC device.

 

I have created a tour in PIML and transfered it to the PIML Mobile program however when I go to run the tour the following message pops up:

 

No tags could be retrieved from the tour. Verify this tour consists of tags.

 

How do I fix this, I want to be able to run the tour using the PIML Mobile program? I used PI tags to set up the tour.

Hourly average using PICONFIG

Good afternoon,

 

Is there a way to extract  hourly averaged values using piconfig? I did notice EVENT mode we can use to get the equally spaced interpolated data but is there a way to add intervals parameter like "1h" similar to extracting Calculated 1 hour average values in Datalink. Due to the large volume of data and number of tags that need to be extracted I am unable to use Datalink.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PI Datalink Expression

Hi All,

 

Is it possible to have a single PI Datalink formula with expression but from different PI Server?

 

I have 2 tags from 2 different PI Servers:

1. Flow tag from PI Server A

2. Digital tag (ON or OFF) from PI Server B

 

I would like to find out the average of Flow in a day if the digital tag is showing OFF.

 

My Datalink formula is as follow:

PIAdvCalcFilDat("Tag1", StartTime, EndTime, 24H, 'Tag2=OFF', "pt-compressed", "10m", 0,1,0,"PI Server A")

 

the issue is Tag2 is coming from PI Server B.

Is there any command to include the PI Server Name for specific tag (eg. \\PIServerB\Tag2)?

I would like to create a calculated tag that totals how long a digital tag = 1 in a 24 hr. period.  It will need to start over every day at 6:30AM.  How do I do that?
