Config: PI call stack or order of execution

Hi There - I am new to PI and trying to learn the performance dos and don'ts. I am accessing PI through the OLEDB driver and executing pass-through queries from SQL Server in PI syntax. These are done using the OPENQUERY operator from SQL so all processing happens on the PI server and we can leverage what PI is good at.

I suspect we may need to reconfigure our PI server to improve performance.

Here's the use case. I have a Query which runs in 50 milliseconds every time, call this Query A. I have a second Query which returns the average for each of 60 points grouped on a 1 hour interval, going back to the first of the year. Call this Query B. Query B takes minutes to run. If Query A is started after Query B, but is running concurrently, the server will not return the Query A result until after the Query B is completed. It's possible I need to reconfigure the driver, or the server CPU is pegged, or the server config needs a change.

Any insights? We are running the latest version of everything, recently downloaded and set up.

Thanks in advance!
