Processbook changing colors when tags contain text based data

Hello, I have several Processbook displays where the states of the valves and pumps are indicated by using multistate color changes.  So they turn green when they are "RUNNING" or "OPEN" .

My problem is Processbook does not allow us to assign multi-states directly to these digital states if the data is stored as text.  Our control system stores the digital states as actual text ie "RUNNING" instead of "1".  To get around this issue, the person who created all our displays created a dataset for each valve, pump, etc.  The dataset converts the text based status to 1 or 0.  These data sets were setup with a 10 minute calculation interval.  So as we watch the display a valve appears to remain closed even though in reality it opens for a minute and then closes.  Below is a chart comparing the actual tag to the dataset value.

One thought I had was to change all the data set calculation intervals to something smaller, maybe 1 second.  Will changing all these data sets to a 1 second calculation interval have any negatives such a performance or memory problems when reviewing larger time frames?  We have about 100 of these datasets per display and about 15 displays in total to fix

What are the best options to change the color of elements based on the status when the tag information is stored as text?

Thank you,

Peter
